"How come I haven't found the right one?"
Seems like you are in a hurry. Maybe you are.
Here, have a cup of chocolate or coffee and I'll tell you something.
Calm now. You've been looking too hard and I really do commend you for that.
It's been almost everyday that you try to figure out what you want and what how you would spend most of your days with your future partner. Passion burns. Your heart skips a beat.
For now, Calm down. Rest. Stay put. Maybe you already have it, but haven't really considered it. Like you haven't really thought of what's already there, in your hands, ready for life's whims. Ready for your love so that you really would want to give. It's a waste tho to really ignore it.
So, calm down. You've been neglecting your own needs. Minimizing yourself in the process of finding that other half that you seek. To not really look out for things that would make you flourish, things that you would probably enjoy doing as well but still haven't discovered it. Right when you think that this person might be the right one, something mysterious in this whole big and vast universe tells you, not yet.
For now, calm down.
Things get real hard as you again find yourself in the broken pieces that you've gave and have.
Even thought about how you did help that person you consider special just months or weeks ago. You laughed. You cried. It's crazy to think that this happened and it's a cycle that you haven't broken through over, and over, and over again.
But you want to.
You calm down.
In that slow, steady moment, you see that each pitfall you allowed yourself to stand up again and walk, then sprinting, then tripping, then walking again. That you've learned the value of time, the value of small gestures, the value of consistency, the value of small but powerful words like "Thank You" and "I Love You", and many more to mention because it gives you life and meaning to live on.
He was there. In the waiting. In the weeping. In the rising. In the revealing. He was.
Know that in every smile and frown He was there, smiling and frowning as well. He was there waiting for you if you fall and it's comeback right after. He was there in every person that came and left. He was there in every lesson you took heart. He was really there.
Time and time again, He was always there. In your "Now". In every moment, captured by probably a blink that neither can we comprehend, that everyday in it's hours, minutes, and seconds, there He was, patient, eager, waiting for the best and grandest opportunity to reveal that which you are looking for. It's been so long and yet a moment that seems like minute noe felt like an hour or a lifetime. It's such a good feeling to know all these. You desire knowing Him and more of His great love. To find Him in knowing. To calm down a bit and know that He was the God who went alongside you in the journey, to tell you to "calm down".
So wait. Calm down. Lay out your cards. And look.
Maybe all that you needed was to know that He was there.
So we had this 6 day trip in japan and it’s our first time there. We went to a lot of places and it’s kinda hard to describe Tokyo, furthermore Japan in a paragraph or two. But then, this is a travel blog post so i’ll make it random and personal and interesting for you.
Of those 6 days stay, and with the last day just to wake up and go to the airport, we went to very much all places that we can think of is the best places that we can be at in Tokyo. Those would be the view point of Mount Fuji, some Parks with Cherry Blossoms, Harajuku’s fashion stated street, Tsukiji Market and it’s fresh fish, Akihabara and it’s pop culture of and all things Anime, Shinjuku and the buildings of shops, Shibuya and the hustle and bustle at it’s crossing, Ginza’s luxurious area, and some Temples here and there. We, the family, totally agree that in those 6 days, it wasn’t enough to roam around all of the sights of tokyo, and we also wished that we could spend more days and visit other cities and prefectures as well like Osaka and Nagoya and everything else, basicaly all of Tokyo.
I like how they’re well mannered, how clean it is from the streets to the estableshments to our place we stayed, surprised that they really have expensive stuff considering that a japanese yen is worth less than a philippine peso but nonetheless every purchase is up to the highest standards.
I love the freshness of the sushi, the cheaper than usual gunpla and enormous amount of anime merchandize, how their public transportation was well planned and efficient, and how convenient everything was because you could actually live near a convenience store and basically buy all necessities like toiletries to pre-cooked meals and have it all in good quality.
But one thing that struck me is that even though they still held on to traditions and cultures of being a Japanese, they still keep innovating and trying their best to keep up the fast paced change of the world. It may not be the case for the whole country but in Tokyo, they really aim for world class standards.
And with this simple post of mine, here’s some shots of our stay in Tokyo.
Also stay tuned for a vlog about it. For now, here’s a snippet. A walk through Shibuya Crossing, one of the most craziest places to be on.
We’ll definitely come back.
It’s been a while since the last season of Sword Art Online, and we’ve been excited for too long.
We ended our journey with Yuuki on Mother’s Rosario as she hands down her legacy on those series of episodes. In addition to that, months back, this movie was announced for the next story of Sword Art Online. It was nice to know that the movie is a new original story by Reki Kawahara, the author of the SAO light novels itself. So consider this canon. For you who’ll watch the upcoming movie of SAO: Ordinal Scale, I’m sure you’ll definitely enjoy it.
One note though, you should have watched all the episodes of SAO so far, reaching the current story of Yuuki and her party. If you haven’t watched all of the episodes so far and watch the movie, you’ll be scratching your head wondering who and why those characters and stuff where there.
“Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale” had it’s world wide release on February 18.
It was nice of them to have it shown in our country knowing that there are plenty of fans all over the world. I do remember that time I watched Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive on the big screen and it’s a refreshing experience to not watch on just a laptop screen over the internet.
It was a really long line for the premiere. It was hard to get tickets too. Can you believe that the movie was on February 18 and they just sold tickets the night of February 16? Talk about rush. Good thing there’s the internet for such things.
One reason for the long line and the short notice ticket selling was the freebies. They actually gave away lootbags filled with exclusive premiere items like the movie poster, some signed cards and such. For us early birds who watched the film early, this was quite a bonus. It isn’t much to brag about but it’s really something to keep.
Here’s to show how many watched for the worldwide premiere of SAO: Ordinal Scale
And to you who watched it or who’s really planning to watch it yet either on the big screen or a torrent over the internet or an official licensed dvd of the movie, here’s the trailer from aniplex.
Enjoy watching the movie!
Stay till the end of the credits because there’s a spoiler *wink*
Who doesn’t like pizza!?
Well there’s this place called Project Pie and it’s amazing.
I didn’t think that making your own pizza would taste so good.
Being someone who usually eats pizzas in places where the pizza was already made up by the restaurant, this seems a nice experience from the looks of it.
See here, Build Your Own Pizza!
From the sauces, to the toppings, they almost have everything.
For my pizza I had meat, and cheese, and more cheese, and some onions and those green things that were probably basil.
They have 5 different sauces, 5 different cheeses, 9 different Meat toppings, and 16 different Veggie toppings. So for you vegetarians out there, you’ll find your match too.
Oh, they bake your pizza in really, really hot brick fire ovens. That’s a nice touch to it.
I like their place. Their branch in Alabang looks like it was from a steam punk hipster film. They’ve got filament bulbs all over. I like it.
And it was also nice of them to allow me to shoot here in their restaurant.
I had a project coming up and I asked for permission to shoot at their place. Well they said yes!
In gratitude, I made this blog to tell how their pizza was awesome, (actually, it really was), and how the place was awesome too.
Are you hungry? Here’s the pizza I got and oh boy it was good.
Their default Make Your Own Pizza’s were thin crust.I forgot to ask whether they had thick crust pizzas as well.
But for you people who loves to savor the flavor of their pizzas, thin crust is the way to go.
I almost forgot to mention that they also have Make Your Own Pastas! And if you aren’t craving fro the regular pizza but is finding a good enough dessert for some sweetness in life, you can try out their Banana Nutella Pizza, S’mores Pizza, and Ice Cream Sandwiches.
Tasted them all, their good as their pizzas. Stamp of approval right there.
For a getaway from the hustle and bustle of work, and escape to a nice dinner munching on your own masterpiece of a pizza, well then, here’s Project Pie.
You’ve probably searched for, or maybe even come across your Facebook timeline, some picturesque landscapes, awe-inspiring destinations, or even glorious views of sunrise and sunsets. You probably want to see the true beauty of nature. You probably want to discover the parts of the world that are still a mystery to you.
This year’s going to be the #YearOfDiscovery in which major travelling would be done. So here’s my question: When’s the last time you’ve ever seen or experienced such beauty?
If you haven’t for a while now, maybe it’s time to pack your bags and plan to go camping, right?!
Try Fun and Adventurous Activities
Ziplines, forest trails, mud slides, rope courses, and of course sleeping in tents. Unleash your inner “Dora the Explorer” or “Bear Grylls” and go man versus wild!
Now there’s no better place to try out some new and exciting things.
Meet New Friends
It’s probably not just you who would want to experience the beauty of the world. Most likely you will encounter a lot of new people and share stories over a campfire.
Maybe a selfie or two together would be a good souvenir to bring home, also.
Yes! You can dream, think, and reflect all you want at camp. Those midnight blues that you’ve been having that stirs up your mind would be nice to do underneath millions of stars in the sky.
Wouldn’t you be in awe of this wonderful view?
Chance To Improve Your Cooking Skill
Of course you need to eat, right? In camp you can cook up some interesting dishes. From canned goods to some grilled food over the fire, your tummy would definitely be excited to have what’s in store.
Oh, don’t forget the marshmallows-on-a-stick over the campfire
Spend Time with Nature
Tired of buildings, cars, and the hustle and bustle of city life? Now this is something you should definitely enjoy when you do camping.
Internet and cellular connection would probably be scarce but if that would take your mind away the complexity of life, you’ll appreciate some peace more than you have ever felt.
If you’re wondering where to start with all these in mind, I suggest you try Camp Calye! Most likely you will have the time of your life!
If you’re interested to join the fun and be with the great outdoors soon, do leave a message to their Facebook page www.fb.com/lojyouth and let them know that you’re interested in joining camp. The event’s happening worldwide, if you’re wondering, from Manila to Davao, from Perth to California. That would be a 4-day outdoor camping experience.
Where else can you be this Summer?!
Aren’t we? It’s so hard to challenge what we are used to. And now it’s happened again.
Recently, Apple unveiled their newest products. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple Watch 2, and the AirPods. Being a tech person myself, interested on new electronic innovations for this ever changing world, this company challenged yet again the status quo. It’s not actually that new because the technology’s been around for quite some time but it wasn’t that famous. As we move on the wireless world we live in today, this was a big step. Yeah, really.
With their newest products, one concern that most people got talking was with the removal of the headphone jack. No more pugging in of the 3.5mm headphones that we used to love. I myself as a usual consumer of audio content on Spotify, Soundcloud and on other apps with all of my Headphones and Earbuds, even with my Stereo speaker at home having that kind of headphone jack, now I was thinking, I won’t be able to use it any more if I upgrade to the newest iPhone.
Okay, honestly, I’m not gonna upgrade just yet. If you knew me well, you might have thought I’ve been interested of getting the new one. I still have a working phone with me and it’s not necessary yet to upgrade what I have. But I must say that the waterproof capabilities of that phone is quite enticing. It’s not enough tho for me to purchase right away the newest one if I also considered the budget I currently have.
We can now say goodbye the 3.5mm headphone jack.
It’s hard. It’s difficult to push aside all the stuff that’s compatible with that to now move forward with wireless headsets and earbuds. I just purchased for myself a wireless headset myself and I must say, It’s awesome and I didn’t quite notice the sound difference from my previous headsets and earbuds, not mentioning the best feeling of not having those wires all over me as I listen. Good experience so far.
Quite a jump from what we are used to, now going forward with new stuff.
We’re accustomed to the usual stuff and now If we’re challenged to move forward to a usually better idea, we struggle to cope up to the differences. The transition from keypads to touchscreens. The move from manual cars to automatics. The upgrades of TVs from bulky to flatscreens. From turntables to casettes, to CDs, to Blurays. Now, wired to wireless.
Isn’t this quite like life itself? Isn’t that the reason why there’s discussions and bad criticism over this? Because we’re not accustomed to have big changes?
Frustrating to have been kicked from an old job only to find yourself finding a new one. Or maybe to have a relationship being broken up and now struggling to move on and get yourself back together again. Maybe you flunked the board exams to find yourself reviewing and taking it again. Or just simply moving out from your old house to a new home.
Don’t be afraid. Do take that first step. Even parents were quite afraid, but at the same time excited, with their baby’s first steps despite tripping and falling over. Now that baby’s grown up, walking. You are that.
Can’t leave this entry without any reference to scripture so I’ll leave this here.
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
– Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Change is coming. It’s this administration’s battle cry and people are sick of being deprived of their rights wanting to have a better life. You do too. You deserve a good life. People have been struggling and maybe now it’s time. Struggle. Be challenged.
Don’t mind the mistakes before. Don’t fuss over what’s left.
Learn from it. Shake it off, and step on it.
It’s time to move forward.
If you could put discipleship into one word, it’s a “mystery”.
I originally thought of the word “scandal” because of the song “Scandal Of Grace” by Hillsong, but reading upon the meaning and it’s origins I thought that there’s another word to describe it. Another word to grasp the thought in another perspective.
It’s mystery for a fact that I and even most of the people who encountered it so often could not explain why. Why good still reigns over the bad. Why our value still shines after the dirt. Why our healing still exists amidst the pain. And why God still loves us even after plenty of mistakes small or big.
It baffled me for a second how broken people can love broken-er people. Because I myself was doing it and I couldn’t even concretely say why I was doing it other than reason of love.
Grace. Unmerited favour. though undeserved, we receive it anyway. That’s how it works. That’s how it has always been. That’s how it will be for years to come. And that’s the love of God.
If you believe in it, great!
If you don’t believe in it, God still loves you.
If you haven’t experienced the mysterious movement of grace yet, it’s okay.
You’ll know it when it’s there.
Well you read it right.
I’m tired of being the best. Tired of being the greatest. Tired of being excellent. Tired of doing things perfectly.
But with that, I’m not saying that it’s bad to be excellent at things. It’s good actuallty to have standards and great goals in life to achieve. To be the best there is can be one of many people’s goals.
I had that moment in school before when there was a competition on a project about a short film or videowork, I was so hyped up for it that I pulled tons of all nighters for it. Eventually I got gold. I had high remarks for it. I was happy too.
Tired but happy.
If this was the case, why do I say this statement? Why am I so upset being tired of being excellent? I’m almost sick of standards that choke me and grabs my life and what’s left of it. It doesn’t feel good. That isn’t good.
It came to me that there was a time that excellency, being perfect, doing my best, was just a goal to catch. And you know, doing something and enjoying it compared to doing something for the sake of doing isn’t life giving at all. It drains you. It leaves you empty. What’s supposed to be joy, laughter, excitement, surprise then turns to grief, despair, anger, sorrow, pain.
As you force yourself through deadlines and through standards, you don’t live anymore. It’s like eating without really enjoying the food your eating. Imagine yourself in a restaurant with good food but besides that, you haven’t eaten for hours. Would you enjoy the food that you’ll eat or gobble it up out of hunger. Most likely the latter part. It happened to me just recently on one of our family road trips. Munch it down like cookie monster and his jar of cookies.
What is it that you hunger that deprives the joys of doing work?
Is it that hunger for fame? For an applause? For you to be proud that you are the best among the rest? For your pride? For a God that doesn’t deserve mediocre stuff?
And now I ask,
How’s your relationships?
As you did your work did people around you recoginze you as a friend or for the work you do? Who are you to them? A brother/sister who’ll be at their side or someone who’ll look down on them if they do something not reaching your standards?
Come on. You know God values love more than anything else. How does love fit in that equation of doing all that great work with no room for mistakes?
I’m tired of this.
I’m tired of ruined relationships because of unattainable goals.
I’m tired of having work be more important than our friendship.
I’m tired of setting aside love for God, love for Others, or love for Self for the sake of goals.
Goals should be for the love of those three. Not drag them down.
Please work and play. Don’t force work if it isn’t necessary. And do know that making mistakes is very much okay. If you make a mistake or if you didn’t reach a standard, then just rise up and do it again, not making that same mistake all over again. But do take note that if it’s just you and your goals, all of these “pushing to the limit” stuff is fine. Otherwise if you’re leading a team, its best that you gauge you and your team’s strenghts before entering the battlefield or ergo before you guys do such work. Know what you can and what you could not. Like deadlines, skills, and manpower, and other stuff. And please, learn to say no.
Relationships matter dear friend. Please for the sake of friendship more than our deadlines, value relationship.
It’s a bit of a balancing act once you’re aware of it.
Believe. You can do it.
(*So I was asked if i could write down my thoughts on being a man for a thesis project. This was the result, and I would also like to share this with you.)
It’s a popular saying that people blurt about when encouraging or doing pep talks on someone. But what is that all about?
What should a man be?
What is it to be a man?
Some say it’s all about the looks, the abs, the low voice, the guy. More on the physical.
On the dictionary, a man is a male guy. The one does the work, the one with a good and toned up figure, the one who’s not afraid to do anything, because he’s a man.
But isn’t this wrong now? Times change and now not all men do the work. Not all men have a good figure and a toned up body, and actually the “dad bod” thing is now a trend. And not all men can really fight hard with their all cuz some are really scared and scream all the chill they have out of cockroaches.
Let’s not limit a “man” to these things. A “man” is a human being, just like you and me. Even though scientifically, we have inclinations to such differences, times change and we too as living being evolve to the cultures of the world. We adjust. We change.
Being a man maybe has it’s definitions, but now being a man can’t be put into one container and say “oh this IS a man”.
Let’s give that respect a man needs to be his own person.
If you know someone who’s struggling with his own identity, then let him figure out who he his. Help him define himself as a good friend. Be supportive, guide him to what’s good and move him away from what’s bad. He’ll still be the one to pick his choices.
If you’re the one who’s struck by this article, then my advice,
Just be you.
Like Pia from miss universe,
“Be Confidently, Handsome, with a heart”
Just look at them. The 1walker team. Aren’t they so successful?
They’re artists in the music industry. Now, they lead people closer to God.
Amazing, these Jesus figures are! <3
On the topic of Success, we supposedly would have a seminar with Jack Canfield and he would talk about Strategies of Success. Apparently, the seminar wasn’t a success and the seminar didn’t push through because he has concern overseas and with that, we were to research and at least learn something from Jack Canfield, which by the way was a very influential person.
He had a book entitled to the supposed seminar and eventually learned that his whole campaign was about achieving success in life. I researched upon his book and learned some things that I can live and bring with me in life. According to a book summary, the book can be explained in three big messages.
If you want to be successful, you have to take 100% responsibility for everything that you experience in your life
Everything you think, say, and do needs to become intentional and aligned with your highest purpose, your values, and your goals
To achieve desired outcomes, one must replace complaining with making request and taking action
All of these, I agree upon.
There are so many thoughts and ideas that his book wants to impart on the reader, but there’s one message that his book, Strategies of Success, was consistent with;
It is “Intentional Living”. From being an avid book reader, I actually took that from one of John Maxwell’s authored books. We really have to be intentional to succeed.
On our early meetings of our CSBGRAD course (it’s a course where in we figure out what to do with life after we graduate), we had a session that started on a reflective note. Our professor gave us a question and let us choose a side. The question was this,
Do you want to be successful or significant?
I chose the significant side.
On a reflective note I state my reasons here. We can all be significant and successful. But we can’t all be successful and significant. It’s an intrapersonal and interpersonal issue. Success is an intrapersonal thing. Being successful is decided from within. We may have a goal for example, to have a million pesos. To be successful, we simply reach that goal of having a million pesos. But significance is different. It’s more than having that million pesos. But because this article is about success, I rest my case here.
To be successful is not a thing of the past. We can be successful in the little things we do everyday. We can set such simple goals like getting good grades, have plenty of friends, or on the other hand, set high enough goals like having a house and lot, to be magna cum laude when you graduate and be successful in that.
One thing’s for sure, the goals we reach so we can be successful, isn’t impossible. Do strive for your goals. Be intentional.Truly want something. On that path of being intentional with what we want, we reach our successes.
You can do it
